Thank Offering Sunday Welcome
What a joy it is today to welcome you to our annual Thank Offering Sunday
Celebration, a ministry of our United Methodist Women. This ministry is well
grounded not only here in Gettysburg, but also across United Methodism. Our
mutual gift this morning will benefit many ministries throughout the nation and
the world. A particular focus of the gifts is related to children and family
services, which is a significant area of need in our world today. We thank you
for your anticipated gift, which you may offer through the envelope that’s
provided in this bulletin or at the close of the service when persons with thank
offering plates will be present at the sanctuary doors.
We are equally delighted to welcome Revered Charles Keller who’s our guest
speaker. He is a retired pastor within our Central PA Conference, having served
prior to that time in the Hershey and Hanover area. While he’s known for many
vital ministries, he’s most well known for his annual leadership of Central PA
folks to the Board of Global Ministries in New York City each February. Welcome
Reverend Keller!
Ministry Fair
Sunday, November 14th, immediately following the 10:30 AM Worship Celebration,
and discover all the various Ministry fairways that are available to you with
the congregation as well as the community.
This ministry is coordinated by Betsy Speer and Connie Thompson as an extension
of our 40 Days of Purpose Ministry.
Crafty Ladies
In Preparation for the UMW’s Snowflake Festival, Crafty Ladies will begin having
weekly craft sessions. We will meet at the church every Monday at 9:30 am. All
are welcome to join us. Tape Ministry
Do you know a shut-in who would like to hear the word of God through our service
on Sunday mornings? Or perhaps you didn’t get to church on Sunday and wanted to
hear the message. The Tape Ministry in our church was established for these very
reasons—to bring the word of God to everyone. It brings our church closer to
those who are not able to attend. There is no charge for the ministry. You may
keep the tape or if you would like, you can return them so we may use them
again. God’s word and God’s gift are here for you! To request a tape, contact
Edgar and Charlotte Moore at 334-1716, Dave Schmidt at 334-4325, or call the
church office at 334-3032.
Save Your Labels and Help a Preschool
GUMC is now participating in Campbell’s Labels for Education Program, so all
Campbell’s products labels should be saved. By doing so, for each label we send
in, a donation ins made towards helping one of the Methodists Church’s
preschool. For more information on how you can make a difference, see Faye
Krantz and stop by the table in front of the office.
Expanding Our Children’s Ministry
We haven’t been, but we should be…providing childcare during the 9:15 AM Sunday
School hour. Why? Quit simple! By doing so, our younger parents can come and
share together in a small group setting that can be significant in their
Christian ministry.—We need your help! We are looking for persons who would be
willing to offer their love and care for Nursery age children at the 9:15 AM
hour particularly, but also the 10:30 AM hour, as Tammy Lytle (the nursery
coordinator for the 10:30 AM hour) is always looking for assistance. Please
inquire in our office and/or sign-up on the bulletin board just outside the
church office! Thank you!
Prayer Vigil Invitation
As we continue to read, share, and grow in our “40 Days of Purpose” study, we
are reminded of the power of prayer and our daily devotion to prayer. On
Saturday, November 20th, you are invited to come to the church and offer your
prayers in the quiet comfort of our sanctuary. You may come and go and stay as
long as you desire, between the hours of 9:00-11:00 AM and 1:00-3:00 PM. A
long with your own personal prayers, there will be prayer focus cards
available and a prayer list to include with your prayer meditation. If you
wish to add any prayer requests for this prayer vigil, please contact Betty
Overman at 334-4664, Jan Berkey at 334-0433 or Pastor Jay on his cell phone at
321-3149.

Russell Hart on Tuesday, November 9th from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM at Camp Hebron,
957 Cap Hebron Road, Halifax PA. The fee is $5.00 per person. For more
information, please se the church office.
The Biglerville Habit House is ready to be dedicated! Today at
2:00 pm. Contact Pastor Herr at 334-5212 for more information on how you can be
part of this wonderful celebration!
Donated Food Needed
When you do your grocery shopping, why not buy two of a particular item, (ie.
Pasta, can of soups, cereal, etc). Bring these items to church and donate them
to the Food Pantry Box in the church library. Carty and Bob Bates deliver our
donation to the local Food Pantry which helps people in our community who have
special needs. Your support of this project would be greatly appreciated.
--United Methodist Women.
A “Thank You”
We would like to thank everyone for prayers and concern for our daughter Joanne
Shindledecker and for our new grandson, Logan Tyler. Praise God for his many
blessings. Sincerely in Christ, Carl and Diana Steager
