WELCOME
to the Gettysburg United Methodist Church!
WELCOME in the name of the Lord! We thank God for your presence among
us and during this Lenten season, we praise God for his righteous Son, who
perfectly kept all of God's commandments for us and paid the full price of our
disobedience. May our hearts be filled with Christ's spirit of obedience as we
give Him all the praise and glory for our lives. |

The Very Rev. Lawrence Stevenson Perry

Opportunities for Ministry
|
Our church is hosting the Gettysburg Ministerium Community
Good Friday Service at noon on April 9. The speaker will be
The Rev. Lisa Goforth from the Episcopal Church. We hope to see you there! Due
to the noon service, the evening Good Friday service
scheduled for 7:00 p.m. has been cancelled. |
|
The spring 2004 CROP WALK is
scheduled for April 18, 2004
at 2pm with registration at 1:15 pm. This year's focus is 'Women and Children"
and a
goal of $8,000 has been set for fundraising. Try to support this worthy
cause if you have time that day. Keep an eye out for additional information
in future bulletins. If you have any questions, please see David Williams. |
|
On Thursday, June 3rd, our church will be hosting Prevention Health
Screenings again this year to offer 5 important life saving tests. On that
day, they will offer you a stroke/carotid artery screening to assess your risk
of a stroke. There will be two other vascular tests available, an osteoporosis
test and a screening for respirator related diseases. There is a minimal cost
for the tests ranging from $25 - $40. The results are sent directly to you and
you are referred back to your own doctor. Call 1-800-446-0925 for more
information. Space is limited so register early. |
|
Jacquie Temple, Tammy Lytle, Missy Lyon, Rebecca Krishan, Maxine Ball, Michael
Ball, Simone Bergeron and the Geesaman children are all
bowling in Bowl for Kids' Sake and looking for sponsors. This
even, on March 21st, benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Adams County
and donations would be greatly appreciated. The money raised is matched by a
local charity so every dollar counts! Contact any bowler if you are willing
to be a sponsor. |
|
PEW ENVELOPES!
You may have noticed the pew envelopes and on top of the mission can. These
envelopes are to be used for donations to the church that are not covered by
your regular envelopes. Some examples are mission can donations, special
collections, special service offerings, etc. If the envelopes are used, we will
be able to add that record to your giving statement. Please be sure to put your
envelope number and/or name on the envelope so we know to which account it
should be recorded. If you have any questions, please see Fred Myers or
Connie Thompson. |
|
Regular and large print Bibles are available at the
back of the church for your use.
We invite you to use one to follow along in the reading of today's scripture. |
|
Tape Ministry - Our members in nursing homes and
those unable to get to church and now able to hear our Sunday services and feel
a part of the church congregation. If you know of a shut-in and would like to
take a tape to them, please call Ed and Charlotte Moore @ 334-1716. We owe David
Schmidt a debt of gratitude for helping us in recording these tapes. |
|
REMINDER: Please remember to call
or e-mail the office by Tuesday prior to
the Sunday you are sponsoring bulletins or altar flowers.
Phone or mail reminders are no longer being issued - that
information is now part of the newsletter. All
announcements to be placed in the Weekly Vision must also
be in the office by Tuesday. Thank you.
